Mckayla's Baptism (Lebanon) 6/17/13

Hey Fam!

I am so happy to hear that y'all are doing great and that you are so excited to be leaving for Argentina! It sounds like you had a fantastic weekend with the whole family and all your friends! I also gave a talk in church this last Sunday on how we can learn from Jesus Christ's example of a perfect relationship with our Father in Heaven, and through following Jesus Christ's example we can have that type of relationship with our Father in Heaven as well.

My Spanish is getting better and my understanding is also been improving as well, God is most definitely helping me.

Funny story of the week: This last Wednesday Sis. Knecht and I had to fill our car up with gas, so we filled the car, but at this gas station you have to go inside to get your receipt if you want it. So we go inside, get the receipt and walk back out to our car. Just as Sis. K puts the car into drive a man walks in front of our car and signals for me to roll down my window.  So I do, the man then proceeds to introduce himself and shakes my hand. He then asks for my name and I tell him Sis Ayre.  He then says, " Well Sis. Ayre I would like to take you out to dinner this week"!  Feeling shocked, I just looked over at Sis K because I didn't know what to say, haha.  In my head I was contemplating, "do I say yes, so we can teach the guy or do I just say no".  I then just told him, sorry as missionaries we can't date, and Sis K. drove off.

As I look back on the experience, it would have been interesting to have said yes because then he would have had to take the two of us out and we would have gotten a free dinner and with the amount of money that we have on our cards, we could use a nice free dinner (haha) But I'm still glad I said no.

On Saturday Mckayla was baptized and it was an amazing experience. Sister Knecht sang "I Am a Child of God" and it was very beautiful. Many people were in tears, Sis. K is a very talented singer! We were just soooooo happy for Mckayla, we love that girl so much. We also just adore her mother and her stepfather as well.  Adam, her stepfather, is also AMAZING and we can tell that he is also very close to being baptized. He said that he is giving up coffee and tea this week!

Have a great week Family I love you!!!!!!

Love

Short, but sweet letter from Lebanon...6/10/13

Hi Family!!

This week has been very good! Hermana Knecht and I had lots of really good lessons this week! Yesterday one of our progressing investigators, Jacklyn, came to church and she really enjoyed it! She is a woman who is in her mid 30's and she has 2 kids, but only one of them lives at home with her and she is from Mexico. We teach her 2 to 3 times a week and she likes what we teach!

Lessons with her are really fun because her daughter is CRAZY!! The daughter is 3 years old and her name is Jayzlyn!   When we teach Jacklyn, I am the distracter and Hna. Knecht teaches. The little girl throws blocks at my head, rips out my hair, and scratches my face with her nails, haha. Oh boy, do we have a hoot when we teach them. The little girl is sooo cute, it is very deceiving.

We have cute family that we taught this week and watched the restoration video with and they loved it and said they will be baptized when they come to know these things are true! They said that they really do believe that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ! So things are looking good with them!  We are still mostly teaching Hispanic families and it is really good for my Spanish!

Today for P Day we are going to Nashville with an investigator, so we are excited about that and I will send pictures! I love you so much and I hope y'all are going great!

Love
Hermana Ayre

*If you ever want better info on how things are with me you can check Hermana Rachel Knechts Blog because she is a far better writer then me, haha.

Lebanon 6/3/13

 Hello Family!!

It has been another great week in Lebanon! Sister Knecht and I are still teaching a lot of lessons. We absolutely love all of our investigators! We have been blessed with a really good pool of people to teach, we have a group of about 10-13 Hispanics and most of them are young families with lots of kids :) I just love getting to teach families with little kids in them!

On Saturday, Hermana Idso was transferred to another trio. She was really sad to go and we were sad to have her leave. On her birthday last Tuesday we dyed her hair and gave her a makeover, she looked great, and then a member waxed all of our eyebrows! She shared with us that it was the best birthday she ever had! The last birthday she had, she was at one of her friends funerals, so it was a bitter sweet day for her!

I just love being here in TN! I am sooooooo excited for Amanda to serve in your mission! She is going to love serving a mission and I know that she will be an amazing missionary!! I am also excited for Amanda to Graduate!!! So much fun, I really do feel as if I graduated just yesterday, haha

This week we had an awesome last lesson with Mckayla, she is pretty incredible for an 11 year old! We also asked Makayla's step father Adam how he feels about baptism and he said that he knows he will get baptized, but he is just not sure of when yet! We really love that family!

Margarita, one of our Spanish group members, holds free Zumba classes at the church every week for our investigators and this week we had 9 non-members there and 5 of them are progressing investigators. It is really nice to have those classes because it gets our investigators in the church building in a non threatening environment where they can meet and make friends with the members of the ward and then they feel more comfortable coming to church! We are also able to do church tours with them when they come to Zumba classes!

I love y'all sooooo much, thanks for your continuing support it helps a lot!

Love,
Hermana Ayre
